The 24th annual Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation Journalism Awards Presentations included remarks by General Brent Scowcroft, former national security advisor to Presidents Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush. The presentations were for distinguished reporting on the presidency and national defense in 2010 and were given to Steven Thomma and Shane Harris.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) along with members of the Ford Family will host a statue dedication ceremony for the late former President Gerald R. Ford. President Ford’s statue will be unveiled in the Capitol Rotunda at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3rd.
William T. Coleman named 2011 Recipient of the Gerald R. Ford Medal for Distinguished Public Service

William T. Coleman, Jr. has been selected as the recipient of the 2011 Gerald R. Ford Medal for Distinguished Public Service. The medal will be presented on May 3, 2011, in Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol by the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation at an evening in celebration of the U.S. Capitol Statue of President Gerald R. Ford and the awarding of the medal.

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library is proud to announce that Candace Clare Sobers has been chosen as the 2009 winner of the Gerald R. Ford Scholar Award in Honor of Robert M. Teeter. Ms. Sobers is a doctoral student in History at the University of Toronto and is completing her doctoral dissertation: The Crisis of Decolonization, the Challenge of Intervention: Revolutionary Angola, 1968-1976.

In commemoration of the 96th birthday of President Gerald R. Ford, individual wreaths from President Barak Obama and from Mrs. Betty Ford and the Ford family were placed at President Ford’s Tomb on the grounds of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan during a ceremony earlier today.

Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens has been selected as the recipient of the 2009 Gerald R. Ford Medal for Distinguished Public Service. The medal was presented by Jack Ford, Chairman of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation and son of former President Ford at the annual dinner of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation on June 1, 2009 at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington, DC.
